Club Atlético Osasuna, commonly known as Osasuna, is a Spanish professional football club based in Pamplona, Navarre. Founded on October 24, 1920, the club currently competes in La Liga, playing home games at the 23,516-capacity El Sadar Stadium. Their regular home kit features a red shirt with navy blue shorts. Osasuna is one of the four professional La Liga clubs owned by its members, with an elected president. Although they haven’t won a national trophy, Osasuna reached the Copa del Rey final in 2005 and 2023. Their best league finishes were fourth in 1990–91 and 2005–06. The club’s nickname, “Los Rojillos” or “Gorritxoak,” translates to “The Little Reds.” The Basque word “osasuna” signifies “health” or “strength,” making Osasuna the only La Liga team with a Basque name. The club faced repression during the Spanish Civil War, but their resilience led to a place in the 1939–40 La Liga. Despite finishing last in 1935–36, they avoided relegation through a play-off.
