World Rugby host’s technical, medical training course for Nigerian coaches
A five-day technical and medical training course organized by World Rugby, in collaboration with the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation Tuesday kicked off in FCT Abuja.
The course is handled by international instructors from Uganda,Kenya and South Africa.
Speaking , Bwali Robert, Game Growth Manager for Rugby Africa, said the course is of high significance to the development of the game in Nigeria.
In his words “This will greatly impact on the growth of the sport in a country of over 240 million people. Coaches from different regions are coming together, and the ripple effect on the game will be tremendous,” he assured.
Adding that “I am hopeful that as more Nigerians receive full training, the frequency of these seminars will decrease, as local experts can then train others and spread the knowledge across the country,” he further said .
Denver Wannies, the regional training manager, Rugby Africa and World Rugby, note that highlighted training is crucial to the development and promotion of rugby players, saying that the seminar would aid the coaches stay up-to-date with the changes in the game , while also been empowered with the capacity to engage and train their communities.
