Gambia announces new football scouting project
The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) last Wednesday had officially launched the Talent Development Scheme (TDS) scout training workshop at the National Technical Training Centre in Old Yundum.
The three-day intensive program featured participants from the regional football associations in the country.
The successful participants would serve as official scouts in their respective regional centers and to the GFF/FIFA Talent Academy.
Declaring the workshop open, GFF Communications Manager Bakary B. Baldeh—deputizing for GFF General Secretary Mr. Lamin M. Jassey thanked FIFA for providing the opportunity to The Gambia.
He had urged the participants to remain focused and to deploy the skills acquired in the best interest of football development in the country.
Baldeh applaud the GFF Technical Department for its proactiveness and commitment to initiating continuous development programs aimed at elevating Gambian football.
Speaking earlier, GFF Technical Director Mr. Sang Ndong hailed the long-term impact of the Talent Development Scheme in the country. He advised the participants to take the lessons seriously, emphasizing on their critical responsibility in scouting raw talent across the regions and for the GFF/FIFA Academy.
FIFA High Performance Specialist Lyson Zulu also congratulated the participants on their selection for the initiative, while expressing his delight at being in The Gambia.
The Zambian national thanked the GFF leadership for its diligent efforts in securing the TDS framework and, by extension, the FIFA Academy.
He expressed strong confidence in the participants’ ability to deliver on expectations.
The brief opening ceremony was also attended by Mr. Kebba “Jesper” Touray, President of the Gambia Football Coaches Association; Mr. Seedy Manneh, GFF Referee Manager; Mr. Michael Spencer, GFF/FIFA Talent Academy Coach; and staff from the GFF Technical Department.
