Jos Insecurity: Plateau United football club relocates to Lafiya
The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL side Plateau United has relocated its home matches from Jos to neighboring Lafiya in Nassarawa state.
The decision by the club is prompted by the recent security challenges that befell the state, following the alleged gunmen attacks in parts of the city centre.
Chairman of the league , Gbenga Elegbeleye, is reported to have given his nod to the relocation plea , considering the paramount interest on the safety of players, officials, and traveling teams that are on the fixtures to visit the city.
In his words “The board had to act as we approach the final stretch of the season. While every match is important, we are equally concerned about the safety of teams. We want matches played in a conducive environment that allows players perform at their best, while we hope for a return to normalcy in Plateau State,”
