African football woke up to one of its most controversial decisions in modern history on Tuesday March 17 2026 after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) overturned the result of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Final, stripping Senegal national football team of their title and awarding it to Morocco national football team several weeks after the tournament had ended.
What was initially celebrated as a hard-fought 1–0 victory for Senegal has now been rewritten as a 3–0 forfeiture in favour of Morocco, following CAF’s Appeal Board ruling. This was exactly what NBC Sports +1 reported.
This is not just a controversial administrative decision, it is a direct assault on sporting integrity. *What Happened and Why CAF Changed Its Mind*
