Non payment of Super Eagles Wages : Team Captain, Wilfred Ndidi, rescues Nigerian government

Incumbent Super Eagles captain , Wilfred Ndidi has pledged to upset the Afcon 2025 accumulated wages been owed his team mates by Nigerian authorities.
Nigerian sports authorities have confirmed that the Super Eagles currently representing the country at the AFCON 2025 in far away Morocco were been owed backlog of their entitled wages.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, had said that Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu have approved the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 budget in November 2025, though the monies were yet to be released from federal government coffers.
Dikko said “The president approved the entire AFCON budget on Nov. 14, 2025. From our end, the funding has been fully cleared,” .
According to him “Approving the money is one thing, processing it is another, but the players know the funds have been approved,” .
He alleged that “The Ministry of Finance and CBN are on this, so everything will come on time,” citing the possible timely disbursements from the ministry and CBN.
In an abrupt development , last Wednesday Super Eagles players reached the resolve to shun training sessions in protest over the alleged non payment of their wages by Nigerian sports authorities .
The players alleged that they were been owed accumulated wages that included their entitlements for their won matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Mozambique.
The players were reported to have resolved to boycott all training sessions, except if their wages were duly paid
Thursday evening . credible reports revealed that, Super Eagles Captain Wilfred Nidid has vowed to the players that he would offset the outwinding wages from his private purse.
In his words ““I will pay the Eagles’ bonuses if the Federal Government fails to do so before Saturday,”
“I’ve been encouraging the team to train and remain focused ahead of the game against Algeria. I’ve been doing this since the second match.
“I have now made a commitment to the staff and players that I will personally pay the bonuses if the authorities fail to do so before Saturday.” Wilfred is quoted to have said .
