Play Fair Atlanta coordinator , Micheal Collins describes Super Eagles World Cup absence as “tragic”

The director of the Play Fair ATL Coalition, in Atlanta Georgia , Micheal Collins has lamented the failure by the Super Eagles’ of Nigeria to book their place at the 2026 FIFA world cup next summer in US , Canada and Mexico.
The outspoken activist commenting of the anticipated fun fare that would envelope the largest football party ever expected in world cup history, said the absence of the Nigeria’s Super Eagles from the party is painful
He said, whenever the world cup thoughts occur to hm and that Nigeria would not be at the party, he relishes recalling the football hey days of Amokachi, Taribo, Okocha Kanu Nwankwo, Sunday Oliseh, likewise recalling the memories created by the Super Eagles in high pedigree matches against world football super powers like Spain, Argentina and host of others , “ we need Nigeria back to the world cup, we need them back.”
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kasali Obaoyen, in Atlanta Georgia on the eve of the FIFA 2026 Final World Cup draw, Collins said Play Fair ATL would hold the city of Atlanta accountable on issues surrounding human right, housing, migrants and workers.
He disclosed that their coalition made up labor civil right criminal justice and immigration groups are committed to investing towards ensuring those who visit the city of Atlanta during the 2025 FIFA World Cup enjoy the best football fun fare the fiesta has to offer to visitors and residents of the city of Atlanta Georgia alike .
Speaking with Kasali Obanoyen in Atlanta , on the eve of the FIFA world cup 2026 final draw that was held in Washington DC , Collins disclosed the unwavering commitment of the members of the coalition to utilize the world cup platform to pursue their set out goals.
He said the world cup is the game of the people, stressing that the benefits of hosting the fiesta should trickle down to the people irrespective of their backgrounds.
Collins spoking on the chances of The Tartan Army of Scotland making an imprint at the Mondial next year , he expressed the optimism that the Scottish side would progress from the group stage to the next round.
He said though Scotland playing Brazil and Morocco would be very tough.
