EFCC, ICPC investigations: NFF moves to sanitize financial records, appoints new independent auditors

Nigeria Football Federation, NF has initiated the process to tidy up its financials transactions in accordance with the provisions of statutory regulations governing its spendings.
It would be recalled that Nigeria’s anti graft agencies had continually launched frequent investigations into the financial books of the federations, this has arisen from series of complaints bordering on the alleged misappropriation and feeble accountability processes , on the whereabout of funds held in the custody of he NFF .
There has been persistent general outcry in urging the federation to make public its spendings of monies appropriated to it, from public funds, lip sealed sponsorship deals and subventions from continental and global football governing bodies that has accrued to it over the years.
Checks revealed that , EFCC and ICPC have continued to bean searchlight on the revenue generation and expenditures carried out by the federation, whilst there are referral to court cases bordering on allegations of corruptions against preceding and succeeding NFF executives, now earning the federation , what is now known in local parlance as “regular EFCC, ICPC customers.”
The federation in an communique issued at the end of its executive committee meeting held , on Saturday September 27th, at Bon Hotels and Suites , in Ibadan , said “following a presentation by NFF’s Independent Auditors, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the Executive Committee approved the Consolidated and Revised Balance Sheet and Profit-and-Loss Statement of the Federation, for the year ended 31st December 2024.
Adding that “in the same vein, the Executive Committee approved the Financial Statements, as well the proposed Budget of the Federation for the 2025 Financial Year, as presented.
“The Executive Committee approved the process that has been commenced for the appointment of an Independent Auditor for the Federation, following the successful completion of the tenure of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, while praising the latter for its diligence and meritorious service to the Federation over the years.” NFF said.
According to the statement, in attendance were, Ibrahim Musa Gusau (President); Felix Anyansi-Agwu (1st Vice President); Gbenga Elegbeleye (2nd Vice President); Yusuf Ahmed (Member); Sharif Rabiu Inuwa (Member); Sunday Dele-Ajayi (Member); Aisha Falode (Member); Ganiyu Majekodunmi (Member); Nse Essien (Member); Margaret Icheen (Member); Timothy Heman Magaji (Member); H.E. Silas Agara (Member); George Aluo (Member); Mohammed Sanusi (Secretary).
While absent with “apology Babagana Kalli (Member)”.
