Karela United FC emerged from the former Metropolitan Sporting Club, rebranding in 2013. After dominating the Ghana Division One league, they secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2017. Notably, Karela reached the finals of the 2018 Normalisation Competition, narrowly missing out on representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League.
