Founded in 1995 by the Samartex Timber & Plywood Company, the club initially served as a recreational football team. They gained promotion from the Third Division to the Second Division of the Western Region in their first season. After years of persistence, Samartex reached the Ghana Premier League in the 2022–23 season, winning the league title for the first time in their history in the 2023–24 season. This victory qualified them for the 2024–25 CAF Champions League1 .
