NSC unveils “RHINSE” to reset Nigeria’s ailing sports Sector
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has flagged off the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE).
The commission, Thursday said the move is a bold plan initiated with the motive to transform Nigeria’s sports industry through the Reset, Refocus, and Relaunch (RRR).
Adding that the initiative seeks to reset Nigerian’s sports echo-system from been driven by competition to be driven by developmental tenets .
NSC director information and public relations , Ajayi Kehinde , in a statement issued Thursday in FCT Abuja, disclosed that the RHINSE strategy brief has been signed by the NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko.
Ajayi said that the signed brief is designed as a framework to establish sports as a vital driver of Nigeria’s socio-economic growth and development.
In her words “NSC Led by Mallam Shehu Dikko as Chairman and Hon. Bukola Olopade as Director General, the NSC has set an ambitious objective and roadmap to unlock the potential of the sports economy by revitalizing infrastructure, fostering grassroots development hinged on school sports and professional academy programs, and promoting private sector engagement/investment in sports and indeed sustainable credible participation across all competition.
Quoting Mallam Shehu Dikko , Ajayi said “this is a defining moment for the sports industry in Nigeria. The RHINSE initiative is not just about investing in infrastructure but about redefining sports as a national asset thus entitled to all the requisite special support, concessions and legal frameworks to drive growth. It is a tool for unity, cultural promotion, and economic growth, with the potential to uplift millions of our youth and communities across the country.”
