Nigeria: Oyo set to host world schools sports athletics trials
The ancient city of Ibadan , north west Nigeria will be agog as hundreds of primary and secondary school students will be arriving the city to compete for tickets to the International School Sports Federation World athletics trials.
The event is scheduled to select Nigeria’s representatives at the World schools athletics championship 2024 that will be held in Bahrain.
The trials will features young athletes in the U12(for primary school pupils) U15( for junior secondary school students)and U18( for senior secondary school students).
The chairman of Oyo state Athletics Association Isaac Friday Ogada confirmed that the state is ready to host a hitch free event.
Further stating that , hosting the trials would afford Oyo the avenue to test it’s capacity towards the plan been nurtured to play host to the National Sports Festival, NSF Ogada stated.
The schools sports trials will run from Monday 5th to 9th August 2024.
