Cameroon players union threatens to drag Eto’o before FIFA over poor salary structure

The National Syndicate of Cameroonian Footballers ,SYNAFOC has rejected the new players renumeration structure put in place by the Cameroonian Football Federation. FECAFOOT.
FECAFOOT under the leadership of veteran player, Samuel Eto’o, has recently introduced the new minimum monthly salary of 75,000 FCFA for players and coaches ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The syndicate vehemently opposed the new wages arrangement saying it is inadequate.
The body of players stated that the 75,000 FCFA per month fails to secure a professional player’s dignity or cover basic living necessities.
SYNAFOC, through its SG Daniel Ngos, has openly rejected FECAFOOT’s 2026/2027 circular, calling a 75,000 FCFA minimum monthly wage an insult to professional players’ dignity.
The players’ union also faults the Samuel Eto’o led federation for its total lack of consultation, cautioning that low wages fuel corruption in the system.
The union further accused FECAFOOT of implementing the circular without prior consultation or a proper joint framework.
Ngos disclosed that , they have formally petitioned FECAFOOT with copies sent to international bodies, noting that they are demanding an immediate freeze and revision of the wage grid.
