Knicks wins NBA final, police arrest 63 persons , NYPD officers injured, president Trump congratulates winners

New York Police Department, NYPD has confirmed the arrest of 63 persons in connections with the violences that erupted in the aftermath of Knicks victory over San Antonio Spurs in Saturday ‘s Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
The NYPD said that those arrested were facing apprehended in connection with assault on a police officer, criminal possession of weapon , criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.
Reports said that large number of crowd had converged outside Madison Square Garden to cheer and celebrate , which the police alleged had crossed line.
The New York Police Department alleged that an 17-year-old was shot once in the foot around West 42nd Street and Broadway. Adding that the injured teenager, who was ferried to Bellevue Hospital is in stable condition.
The police authorities said that some people have been taken into custody, adding that firearm was recovered from the scene of the crime.
Media sources report that some persons were stabbed in the post game mayhem, New York Police Department has confirmed this incident.
The intersection of West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue, multiple school bus fires around 2:47 a.m. on Sunday were attended to by the fire service department, reports said.
NYPD vehicles were seriously damaged by those jumping on top of the vehicles, while vandalizing the vehicles with baseball bats, smashing their windshields the police authorities were quoted to have said.
Also independent report said that the celebrants climbed on light poles, traffic lights and scaffolding. Stating that 10 NYPD officer have been injured.
Records show that Knicks have last won NBA championship in 1973, though made it to the finals in 1999 losing it to Spurs four games to one, with the final game taking place at the Garden.
US president, Mr Donald Trump through his social media post , Sunday morning has extended his congratulatory message to the Knicks and their owner and his friend Jim Dolan.
“Congratulations to Jim Dolan and the New York Knicks!!! What a year it has been but, even more so, what incredible playoff wins we have all witnessed, especially the last four – Maybe the greatest in the history of basketball,” Trump said.
