FIFA World Cup 26: Iranian national team Arrives Mexico border , to shuttle between US and Mexico

The Iranian national team has arrived the Mexican border city of Tijuanna , their new camp base for the FIFA 2026 world cup.
The Melli as they are fondly called are schedule to file out against New Zealand and Belgium in the city of Los Angeles, before confronting the Pharoahs of Egypt in their last group game.
FIFA has officially approved the request by the Iranians to have their team camped in the border city of Tijuana, as against the initial schedule for their team to be camped in Tucson, Arizona.
Iranian Football Federation President Mehdi Taj, is quoted to have said that , camping in Tijuana would lessen the burden of visa and logistical challenges.
Claudia Sheinbaum had earlier disclosed that Mexico did not object to hosting the Iranian squad.
According to Claudia , United States had made known its intention of not wanting the Iranian team staying overnight on American soil , after scheduled match day activities.
Iran had also requested FIFA to relocate its matches away from US soil.
The Iranian team will train at Club Tijuana’s facilities in Mexico and would now have to travel across the border for their world cup matches,.
