FIFA World Cup 2026 Opener, Mexican Gov’t Declares June 11 Work Free Day, Orders Closure of Schools

The Mexican President Claudia Sheinbau, on Tuesday has directed all federal government workers in the capital to work from their residence next Thursday.
The order came as the city gears up to play host to the opening ceremonies of the FIFA 2026 world cup on June 11.
The Mexican leader also ordered the suspension of classes , in pre and tertiary institutions , the order is to be effected in both public and private schools.
The decision is to assist ease the movement of thousand of visitors that will converge on the city to witness he world cup opening events.
The order is expected to help ease urban mobility and road safety as Mexico City hosts the World .
Estadio Azteca officially known as Estadio Banorte will host the world cup opening match between Mexico and South Africa
