The eligible participants are expected to have completed basic World Rugby training modules, including Rugby Ready, T1 Rugby (non-contact), as well as introductory courses in coaching and player welfare and medical care.

Organisers stated that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the foundation of rugby in Nigeria by building capacity at the grassroots level and encouraging wider participation.
It is expected that the training will coincide with the 3rd edition of the Abeokuta Rugby 7s Tournament, following an exciting previous edition, where Cowrie RFC edged Racing RFC of Lagos 26–21 to emerge champions.
