Concacaf Women’s qualifier: Mexico hammer US Virgin Islands 9-0. As Jamaica secures 4-0 over Antigua
The 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers continued with Jamaica last Friday securing a 4-nil victory against Antigua in Group B at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
The hosts went out in search of the opener in the first half, including hitting the woodwork on three separate occasions. Khadjia Shaw ultimately found the breakthrough goal for Jamaica from the penalty spot in the 45’+1’.
Shaw further extended the lead for the Reggae Girlz with two strikes to secure her hat-trick on the night. First, finding the back of the net in the 55’ with a quick control and finish from the center of the box, followed by a diving header in the 55’. Kiki Van Zanten provided the assists for both goals.
Deneisha Blackwood converted a penalty in the 90’+1’ to round out the result for Jamaica.
Antigua will retake the pitch on April 14 with a visit to Dominica. Jamaica will be in search of another win in the W Qualifiers when it hosts Guyana on April 18.
Likewise , Mexico earn a 9-nil victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands in Group A on Friday at Estadio Carlos Vega Villalba in Zacatecas, Mexico.
Mexico took the lead in the 5’ with a goal by Maria Sánchez from the left side of the box. Charlyn Corral doubled the lead with a header in the 9’.
Sanchez got a brace and the third goal for Mexico in the 19’, this time from the right side of the box. Corral added one more from the penalty spot in the 25’.
Kimberly Rodríguez was ready to capitalize on a corner kick, sending a header to the back of the net in the 29’. Sanchez kept pushing, scoring the sixth goal for the North Americans in the 32’ to complete her hat-trick.
Scarlett Camberos added her name to the scorers list in the 39’, scoring the seventh goal of the night for Mexico. Sanchez closed the first half of the match with her fourth goal, the eight for Mexico, in the 40’+5’.
The ninth and final goal of the night came in the 82’ from a right-footed shot from Kiana Palacios.
The U.S. Virgin Islands will play its last game in the W Qualifiers on April 14 against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Mexico will host Puerto Rico on April 18 to decide the top spot in the group and the berth to the 2026 Concacaf W Championship.
