World Cup 2026: FIFA Sanctions Nigeria, Stops Super Eagles World Cup Dreams

World football governing body, FIFA has slammed heavy fine on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the violations of regulatory procedures , during the FIFA world cup playoff held in Rabat, Morocco.
FIFA had ordered the Nigerian federation to pay the sum of 1,000 Swiss Francs I fine, for the security lapses that were recorded , during the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff against DR Congo in Rabat on November 16, 2025.
Nigeria was sanctioned for their fans been involved in the throwing of objects during the match against DR Congo, in contravention to the provisions of Article 17 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
FIFA then went further to dismiss the petition filed by Nigeria , in which it challenged the eligibility of DR Congolese players, that were paraded during the playoff match.
In it’s verdict FIFA’s disciplinary committee held that NFF’s allegations of fraud regarding the eligibility of several DRC players were null and void
Then also declared as void the case of dual citizenship levied against the DR Congo players by NFF.
It is widely reported that , NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, has expressed dissatisfaction against the ruling.
