Ahead National Para Games : NSSF president splashes largesse on Adamawa para shooting athletes
The President of the Nigeria Shooting Sports Federation, Commodore MS Shettima, has donated wheelchairs and pellets to Adamawa state Para Shooting athletes.
Our correspondent reports that the recipients are currently camping in Abuja in preparation for the Abuja 2026 Para Games.
Shettima, who doubles as the Chairman of Adamawa State Shooting Sports Association, made the donation in his personal goodwill and passion for grassroots sports development.
He said he holds as sacred the issue of the promotion of inclusion within the shooting sports community.
Our correspondent gathered that , the wheelchairs were presented to the para-athletes to enhance their mobility and comfort , during training and competition,
The pellets were provided by the President to all the athletes to make available adequate training equipment, adding that they would hopefully continue their preparations for the upcoming games.
In his remarks during the presentation, Commodore Shettima expressed his delight at the level of dedication and steady improvement observed amongst the athletes
He commended their determination and encouraged them to remain focused and disciplined in order to achieve success at the forthcoming Para Games.
He further reiterated the need for the continued growth and success of the shooting sports association in Nigeria, emphasizing on the importance of increased engagement and participation in shooting activities across the country.
The athletes expressed great joy and gratitude to the President of the federation for his generosity and encouragement, describing the support as timely and motivating as they prepare to represent Adamawa State at the national level.
In her remarks , the Acting Director of Sports, Salamatu Alimi, applaud Commodore Shettima for his continuous support to the athletes.
She said that the donation of wheelchairs and pellets is a timely intervention that will significantly boost the morale and training capacity of the athletes.
Alimi assured that in her capacity, as Acting Director of Sports, she would continue to work towards sports development and promote shooting sports activities within Adamawa State and beyond.
