Adamawa: Gov Fintiri receives SWAN diamond jubilee award

The governor of Adamawa state in north east Nigeria, Mr Ahamadu Umar Finitri has received ,the prestigious Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN .
The association said the award was handed to Fintiri for his outstanding contribution to the development of sports in Adamawa state.
Reacting to the honour bestowed on him by Nigerian sports writers, Finitri said “ I m delighted to receive this award today, it shows that, what we are doing as a government is well appreciated not only in the state but by an Association like SWAN”
“This award will certainly make me do more, my desire for sports development is second to none because with sports facilities and sports administrators well developed 90% of youth restiveness will be addressed”.
“We are committed to this, after the commissioning of our World class stadium first phase, we will embark on the second phase immediately” Fintiri assured .
The award was presented to him in his office by the National Welfare Secretary of the Association, Mr. Austin Ajayi.
Ajayi, while presenting the award said the governor was chosen by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and was rectified by the Awards Committee set up by the Association based on his track preference in developing sports facilities and sports personels in the state.
Governor Finitri who is one of the 12 governors in the country recognized for the exemplary commitment towards youths and sports development in Nigeria.
The award ceremony was part of events marking SWAN diamond celebration (60years) of its establishment in 1964.
Other awardees from Adamawa state includes Engr. Nimord Musa, who is the incumbent President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, NVBF, Chief Solomon Kumagar, an veteran journalist and permanent secretary ministry of Information and strategy, Chief Justin Madugu OON, Head coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Madam Victoria Tadawokai, the first female SWAN chairman and first female SWAN National officer.
