The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL has stated that all clubs are compelled to make available power generators at all match venues come the next new season.
The league body in a letter dated 3rd June addressed to all clubs said, prior to routine inspection of stadium facilities, it is imperative to notify the clubs that the provision of power generators would serve as one of the major requirements for stadia approval.
The letter signed by the chief operating officer of the league, Davidson Owumi , stressed that the directive for reliable back up generator power supply is to ensure the provision of continuous lightning ,during matches in case of primary power source failure.
Owumi as he is popularly called said “ As we approach the new season, we like to remind you of the importance that your stadium infrastructure should meet the required standard.”
According to him clubs intending to host NPFL matches in their current facilities must posses standard LED floodlights and functional LED floodlights that meet the illuminance level for night matches, he said.
Adding that , these facilities must be in place and functional before the commencement of the banal NPFL routine stadium inspection exercises.
Owumi cautioned the clubs that failure to meet the set out requirements may deprive the clubs from the use of their traditional home grounds , while urging the clubs to prioritize the upgrade of their facilities to ensure a smooth football season.
