Sports journalists condemn poor state of sports development in Kogi
Sports journalists under the aegis of Sports Writers association of Nigeria, SWAN Kogi chapter have cried out against what they described as the decay in sports development in the state.
The association in a comminuque issued at the end of its congress held , January 29th at the state NUJ Press centre , Lokoja , while congratulating Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo have made the call for “urgent attention towards the decaying state of sports facilities across Kogi State, while calling for attention towards school sports development .
The august gathering in a communiqué issued and signed by Aliyu Mohammed Lawal, Secretary, SWAN Kogi chapter said “The Congress evaluated the current sports landscape and noted the urgent need for intervention in infrastructure, funding, and policy formulation. A recommendation was made to engage the state government and relevant agencies on the revitalization of sports facilities and grassroots sports development.
Adding that “The Congress also resolved to intensify advocacy efforts for policies that would enhance sports growth in the state.
