The failed move by the reigning Africa’s best football leg , Ademola Lookman to join French giants, Paris Saint -Germain , PSG have been disclosed to be responsible for his bitter relationship with Atalanta ‘s manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
Lookman was alleged to have been approached by the Parisian Princes, in the summer, this move had incite the Atalanta handler to anger .
The Atalantians were annoyed that PSG approached the player before speaking to the club.
The development had led to a sour relationship between the player and coach Gian Piero Gasperini, the relationship between the parties was in a bad shape prior to last Tuesday day penalty miss in the game against Club Brugge.
Atalanta were unwilling to discontinue their marriage with the player at the crucial time, because it was expecting the departure of Teun Koopmeiners’ in a €50m sale to Juventus .
It is revealed that Lookman had reached personal terms with PSG, adding that he had requested to be excused from the first team at the beginning of the season at the period when the transfer window was still open and while talks were still ongoing , this sparked the anger of the coach .
Lookman is alleged to have snubbed the club , when he missed out in the first three Serie A matches of the season.
It would also be recalled that there was a disagreement between Lookman and Gasperini in October , when the player was substituted at half-time in a league match against Venezia,.
The tension between Lookman and the manager heightened prompting club co-owner Stephen Pagliuca to travel to Italy from the United States to speak with Lookman over the matter.
Last Tuesday Lookman fired home Atalanta’s first goal in the game against Club Brugge , he later stepped forward to take the penalty, though not being the designated taker, he failed to convert the precious spot kick.
Coach Gasperini was bitter over the miss , he described Lookman saying he is “one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen.”
The African football king reacting said he feels “deeply disrespected and hurtful’ by the comments been attributed to the coach.
