Sports Parliament with Kasali

And hopefully, football will not just be “chop for political thugs and agberos”.

Welcome back to Sports Parliament with Kdo .

A lot has happened since our last chat.

A lot.

Welcome to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics where world top athletes attempt to got for gold . Africans are not left out in this edition that is widely considered, “One Ceremony , several first”. Regardless of the bouquet of humanitarian crises, the 2024 Olympics in Paris , France will go as planned .

While I attempt to manage my rational paranoia about the performance index of the Nation’s contingents in the less than 20 events that Nigeria will participate in, and the near prediction by my good friend Frank Idenudia Alapa , a sharp Radio host in Abuja, about the Nigeria’s Falcons winning a goal medal at the games in Women’s soccer , I hope that the officials accompanying the athletes to the Paris Olympics will not be more than the athletes hoping for podium performance.

Let us dig in, and do a run through on some of those things that could affect sports as they have happened .

There was an attempt on former president Donald Trump’s life . President Biden could no longer go  on for second term , therefore, opening the door for a woman of colour, and class in Kamila Harris, to duel it out , and become the first woman to seat in the White House as President.

Who says that, that alone will not have an impact on the trajectory of sports participation for more women of color to aspire for more in all realms of life?

Copa America 2024 came and gone , Euro 2024 sped away with gusto of new revelations and hope and other global sports prior to Paris 2024 .

Kano Pillars is still boiling with uncertainty, as Kanu’s Eyinmba nest out more for potential development across  the Atlantic.

Destination is Denmark.

Kudos, to the legend. Clear, that when a professional runs a club, than when opportunists prowl and damage this for the masses.

Nasarawa Fc’s Management disbanded , while sunshine Stars of Akure got a new Management, and hoping for a real renewal. Other clubs in the in the Professional League prepare for the new season without a clear line of sight as to when the season will take off.

And hopefully, football will not be just be “chop for political thugs and agberos”.

Owo now gets a new club in the National League, thanks to Emalex Fc , as secondary schools in the kingdom could earn more stripes as a ground for soccer incubation.

May the club get all the blessings, and support needed via Kabiyesi’s laudable template of football development. May the Olowo of Owo, Oba Dr Gbadegesin Ogunoye, the 3rd , reign for ever!

As we try to turn the invisible to the obvious on this parliament, seat back and ride along as the world turns to Paris momentarily, and life goes on , and hope kept alive for a better world with sports .

Next time, folks!

Kdo

  1. Congratulations to the new football club, the Kabiyesi Olowo of Owo, the precursors. It is hope that the new club will prove it’s mettle in the comity of clubs.
