The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Oman, roared to life on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Home-based players from Niger Republic and the Sultanate of Oman clashed in an intense international friendly. The match ended 4-1 in favour of Oman.

However, Oman responded swiftly. M. Al-Ghafri restored their lead. He scored just before halftime, in the 45th minute. The timing of the goal was crucial. It deflated Niger’s spirits.

Al-Ghafri was not done. He bagged another goal. This came in the 45+1 minute. The double strike stunned Niger. Oman carried a 3-1 lead into the break. The half-time whistle blew shortly after.

The second half began with high intensity. Oman maintained control. They created more scoring chances. Niger defended bravely. They tried to find a way back into the game. Their efforts proved futile.

Oman cemented their victory late on. M. A. Ghassani scored in the 86th minute. This extended Oman’s lead. It sealed a convincing 4-1 win. The final whistle confirmed their dominance.

Despite the loss, Niger’s players showed commendable spirit. Their efforts on foreign soil impressed football observers. They displayed grit and talent throughout the match.

Abdulgafar Oladimeji expressed satisfaction after the game. “This is a big step for Sahel Sports News and African football,” he said. “We brought two nations together through sports.”
