60th anniversary- Methodist High School , Looking unto the new home of school sports in Owo Kingdom , what’s Next? – Sports Parliament with Kdo
The MHSO’s Sports Committee headed by Bose Adebayo, wants to make the school a sports hub in the region .
Yes, good idea and this doable .
Hopefully, all things will be equal to make the dream come through with a leap launch around , and after the school’s 60th anniversary . Kdo’s Sports Parliament digs deeper .
After the trills , frills , pomp and pergentry of the 60th anniversary, the reality of follow ups , and likely sustained hope will follow , leading to a new reality dawning on all of us like the crack of the early morning dew on an exposed rock top.
All the “aso ebi”begging and pushcarts will have gone ; the paintings will start to wane again , more questions will resurface about what was done right, half right , poorly done and solutions to a new MHSO after two ex-students have headed the school . There must be a new line up of the- to – do list for the new principal, regardless who becomes one.
The almighty National School’s Executive that his all knowing will learn that khaki is not leather with the new sherif in town torn between setting his own agenda out of any “perceived outside influences” on running the school daily , and a potted staff willing to see, and test the competency of the new guy in town .
The students will also test his/ her will on discipline , and the area boys will want to see if the porous nature of the school open grazing field to stealing will continue or the presence of amotekun will be a cause of worries for the “rampaging rats in and out of the school”.
Why will the school not be a leader in sports way beyond Owo? . Why will the school not build on the huge and awesome results of football being enjoyed now under the leadership of Bose Adebayo’s Mhso sports Committee? Making the school a Sports Hub in the region is already carved in stone.
No going back on that no matter what – clearly, an idea who time has come , and to stay for good .
Are we able to revive Agric in the mist of the current food snags every day without turning our revered playing pitch to arable farm land ? Why not push all the perforated illegal farm areas to our boundaries with St Catherines’ and the all the year round brook called “ogbaara”.
Can we be creative, and think outside the box about educating our girls and helping them build their talents in sports than making babies prematurely?
Will it take more than another 10 year to full fence the school and chase all the land grabbers of Mhso out of our land ?
And instill confidence on “potential sponsors, and partners that their gives and gifts to Mhso sporting arena will not fly out and walk like roofs of buildings , teak trees felled without “iwe ijoba” and made into “pa yabayaba” by the unseen hands in our mist , and other valuable assets of Mhso that can’t be accounted for? As “eghe olofa”continues to drain !
Ask those who stole our land by the school gate to compensate us in some ways, shapes or forms ?
Can we ask that the Methodist Church of Nigeria support us a bit more ?
Worried about the failed pedagogical temple and “non functioning moribund education committee set up by METHSOOSA”, hear what an educator per excellence, and a product of MHSO whispered to our team while digging to help panel beat , powder, and beautify the cracked and dingy podium of MHSO , “the frustration includes the inability to compare results of a few years to statistically help with area of needs in subjects, aside the traditionally chronic challenged areas of Maths and English” and the role model goes on with confidence,
“It is beyond just doing lessons for the students in a tangential manner without a structured base line of error analysis and achieving set objectives,” added our retired language dean .
Hope and push for inclusivity beyond Owo , and rewire the students that globalization is more than convergency algorithms , arisitorism , that life is bigger than Rufus Giwa Poly, that technology is not to be left out.
Yet out cultural currency retained- most parents of our students are not knowledgeable in some of the areas listed above, thus, the burden of our educators in the school to push the students for better outcomes while the teachers themselves are supported with better remunerations , bonuses , opportunities to be trained, retained and retrained again in all areas speciality including English language.
The new principal must not be a mere journey man – a person that is is not pathologically lazy – a person who is a person- not necessarily an old student of Mhso, but a committed individual who wants to truly make that school work, and function again. He must be person with a vision for the school .
Yes , the new school leadership must do more than helping to push to the students and those who still care to know that, the next school principal must not necessarily by an ex student, but the best for the school.
QED
“Discipline is not about restriction; it’s about liberation. It’s about freeing yourself from the shackles of procrastination, excuses, and mediocrity.
A life of discipline is a life of honour. It’s a life that commands respect, earns admiration, and leaves a lasting legacy. Note that those who live without discipline die without honor”.
Can all our leaders hear this loud, and clear as they think of a better global network, having a functioning website, dream about rotational Annual general meeting – AGM – as well as venues / an annual convention.
It may also make a whole lot of sense to expand the Exco , with a robust parliament for better outcomes .
Good morning, all and have a pleasant pre and post 60th anniversary .
