Former NFF vice president , Bar Baribote accuses NFF of disinformation, fault moves to amend statues
Former vice president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Victor Baribote has accused the Nigeria Football Federation of misleading the general public in its moves to amend the federation’s statues.
Baribote in a statement that has gone viral on social media platforms said “Greetings all, I have perused the Communique of the NFF Ordinary General Assembly 2024, in Asaba Delta State and regret to state as follows .
“that point 9 of the NFF communique is disingenuously crafted to mislead the general public, for ease of reference may I with the most profound respect and humility direct our reading to Article 17 of FIFA Statutes which grants independence to all member Federation not limited to but including that of Nigeria (NFF) he added that “while Article 30 of the NFF Statutes 2010 as amended provides thus ; “The General Assembly of the NFF is responsible in amending the Statutes” with these clear provisions one begin to wonder like Steve Wonder and / or doubt like doubting Thomas where do they import point 9 of the Communique, that the Nigerian Government and Football Stakeholders should not be deceived by this.
“ that it is a deliberate move there is nothing like “FIFA initiated amendment” I stand to be corrected, that it’s offends Article 17 of FIFA Statutes which amounts to interference and FIFA frowns at it seriously. Wetin I sabi sef. From the courageous son of a fisherman.
Nigeria Football Federation had in a comminuque issued at he end of its Annual General Assembly held on Friday 4th October 2024 said “The Congress acknowledged the progress made so far by the NFF Executive Committee towards prioritizing the FIFA-initiated amendments to the NFF Statutes 2010.
“and assured that the concerns of Nigerians will be addressed when the amendment is concluded. The Congress noted that an Extraordinary General Assembly will be convened at an appropriate time to consider the amendments of the NFF Statutes in due course.
