“Methodisting” Methodist High School , Owo after a successful 60th anniversary! – Kdo
A lost culture is a lost nation , no place like father’s land . This is MHSO for me , don’t know about you.
The nation here is MHSO . The father’s land is MHSO. No more, no less.
To all alunmi, we must not lose our Methodist culture for us not to lose our nation . We must all evolve new methods sharper than all that was deployed during this the 60th anniversary to keep methodisting our MHSO.
Let us all take a look at some options for the future and further deliberations .
How about not allowing MHSO to die before , or by another 10 year anniversary -70yrs old?
Maybe we should “kuku” have a repeat in 5 years , when the school would be 65 years on earth – to enable us take a stock of what we may have achieved post 60th anniversary in real time in the area of infrastructural and human capital development – in Modern Science , the laboratory that will not sink again ,
the perimeter fence – a cardinal hub of the school’s safety given “the state government’ s insane mantra of go die a natural death , silence and recalcitrance as opposed to the Awolowo type of education” plus a “take and don’t kill me”two block of classrooms, and a hanging promise of a renovation of a block of classrooms by the wobbling and fumbling state government around education .
Shame as the state government has vicariously left too much for the old students to bite .
There are some process areas as well despite the echoed victory of the Sports Committee lighting up the school again for the right sports reasons , as a second edition of the 60h Commemorative Magazine will birth flawed first , with stupid finishing and avoidable omissions will be out to kill the flairs and all “ikusinu” , momentarily without spinning the cash strapped association still needing to be robed by all of us .
It’s good that the issues with the Magazine are not grammatical!
Yes , and yet, many fair minded and compassionate old students of our school say , MHSO remains , “amore a prima vista “ – thus love at first sight for MHSO must not be allowed to die .
The Perimeter Fence – A non-negotiable pip and pitch for a solid MHSO.
Writer received words from the streets and security operatives close to him, stating that sports forces and organizations need to focus on their survival.
They variously emphasized the importance of securing the taproot and operational leaves, ( sound perimeter fence ) leveraging on the current mild unity, street sanity, and ceasefire between all warring factions.
This writer believes that sports can thrive, and the Olowo’s Cup kicks will be a success, with MHSO defeating all schools, including our dominant friends and tormenting foes.
A source close to the show ending at the JF Ayeleso opener advised the advised the powers that be in our school to get their perimeter fence going, and fast as well!
Furthermore, the approval rating of the President Osuporu-led National Executive Committee is high, and continues to rise, and shall heed to calls to make the ratting emulative by all the limping schools around the.
“Let us toy with the idea of rotating the school’s Annual General Assembly (AGM) among the different zones across Nigeria for now”, said an old student , akin to a parrot dealing with palm kernels , and electing not to be noticed.
Rotational meetings and AGM amongst the zones .
A clearly informed old student, who prefers to remain anonymous, expressed his support for this idea, calling it a good gamble. He is committed to the ongoing development of MHSO and is willing to take action.
These rotational meetings and AGM amongst the zones will bring to light “lost faces” and “buried voices,” while also reviving the spirit of MHSO after its 60th anniversary. It will open new opportunities and foster renewed confidence, leading to increased membership and participation for our beloved school.
Crowded roles and non-performing ones in finance , internal audit , and replacing absentee national officers.
Let us avoid the type of over crowded norms seen at the last run where one person was overwhelmed with too many critical roles – have a financial secretary or recorder- aside the Treasurer- the two roles must not be allowed overlap again .
Don’t kill a willing spirit, pls .
Have a better and vibrant PRO , if not available to perform, don’t wait for the AGM to have one – apply the doctrine of necessity here – our current PRO department is as dead as dodo!
No apologies here, pls .
Let us pitch better on our needs , and tell our stories well by capable and competent hands .
Think about an internal auditor for all the books now as more students, old students would want to show up than for just birthdays and burial ceremony notifications !
To drive growth, we should make and rename the 60th anniversary Planning Committee into a standing committee. We should also rename the Senior Ajayi-led team and weed out those who are not believers from the pool, making it a strong team.
We may be overdue for a vibrant Education/Academic committee to work with the school’s new revamped leadership to achieve better outcomes.
There are key stakeholders with proven educational and administrative expertise who will volunteer their time. Let our “ogas” think quickly on this!
As “leaders” and old students, if we truly are, we must now put aside our personal interests to help MHSO. We should stop acting like generals who can not generate and command when needed. Instead, we should focus on what we can and must give to MHSO.
We must be purely selfless, not feeling that we possess the sole monopoly of knowledge in the face of the government’s ineptitude to serve the public holistically, not haphazardly.
How about a more sincere and consistent resolve to serve with integrity, as advocated by JF Ayeleso (for those of us who benefited from his tutelage)?
Let wisdom prevail over ego, and let us plan to review our current system in five years before another ten-year overhaul, which may not be extensive.
Perhaps, we should celebrate our perimeter fence then with a modern laboratory.
By then, we may have more concerned and committed citizens eager to use legal government actions to support MHSO!
Just maybe jare some of us still hiding will rise , born again, and shine with the rest like a torch in the storm , and a beacon the school needs now .
Just some wild observations per words on the streets and on the mouths not willing to offend others ! However, therein lies the truth if MHSO must live on and complete with the best !
