Basketball: Nigeria risks sanctions. As FIBA warns against third term
If the conduct of elections into the Nigeria Basketball Federation NBBF fails to comply with its regulations , Nigeria risk been sanctioned by the Federation of International Basketball (FIBA) boss warns.
The likely sanctions may culminate into Nigeria been barred from participating all major basketball tournaments .
The President , African Zone 3 Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA), Samuel Amedu , who dropped the caution said “Let me tell you that in the constitution or statues of the basketball federation, anybody who served two time as the President, cannot run for third time and both the NBBF and FIBA Africa and FIBA World have the documents intact.
“ I’m assured that the National Sports Commission led by Alhaji Shehu Dikko will not temper with the basketball statues against their integrity just to favour somebody”. he further warned.
According to him, the incumbent NBBF constitutions has no provision for third term.
He lamented that the promotion and development of basketball game has dwindled tremendously.
Adding that the men and women Nigerian leagues and youth competitions has suffered setbacks.
He urged stakeholders to united in the lust to restore the lost glory of the game in Nigeria.
