RE: DSP Barau Jubrin’s donation sparks off crisis amongst Kano NLO clubs, Abba Gida Gida fc boss suspended
Our reputable online sports platform had published the story with the afore headline, the story no doubt had attracted reactions from far and wide, couple with making an impact visible through the reactions that emanated after the publication of the story.
Sahel sports news had reported that Nationwide League One, NLO clubs under the aegis of Nationwide League Clubs Kano Forum were engulfed in an affray over the intervention funds doled out to clubs affiliated to the Forum by Deputy Senate President, DSP senator Barau Jubrin.
That the chairman, Abba Gida Gida football club , Mustapha Tiyya of the defunct Tiyya football club, had fired the first salvo that ignited the dispute that is roaring to consume the forum.
The report stated that , Tiyya boss had made an outburst in local parlance saying “ the leadership of this forum has breached the trust of we members of this forum. “ you the leaders of our forum travelled to Abuja to collect monetary donations from DSP Barau Jubrin, on our behalf, you betrayed our trust and also betrayed yourselves .
Mustapha accused the leadership of the forum of collecting N20 million from senator Barau, out of the amount collected he alleged that the sum of N4million was diverted to personal use by the forum’s exco .
Sahel sports also reported that In a swift reaction, the Public relations Officer, PRO, Nationwide league Clubs Kano Forum, Ibrahim Usman Arzai, a.k.a Na’alungu had dismissed the allegations as baseless and lacking in facts and substance.
Adding that, Arzai had said that the monies donated by senator Barau to the clubs was meant and was given to those clubs whose club league registration with the Nationwide league One, NLO is up to date.
We strongly respect the rights to rejoinder, since it is one of the cardinal pillars of journalism practise.
Hence when our attention was drawn to the voice note making rounds on social media platforms concerning our story on the issues bordering on the financial misappropriation levied against the forum’s exco by Mustapha Tiyya, we decided to act according .
The voice note is attributed to the Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Nationwide League Clubs Kano Forum, Mr Ibrahim Arzai.
It is crucial to note that the duty of any spokesman or image maker is to inform, and to educate , more especially the sports media circle, the voce note by Mr Arzai popularly called Na Alungu in his reaction on the behalf of the forum have fell short of the banal witty, or critical of the reportage in issue, he rather resorted to attacking the personality of the reporter.
The voice note fell short of being genuine and trustworthy, his reaction was bankrupt in honesty transparency and fell far short from adhering to ethical standards.
From the content of the voice note, evidently are the indicators that Mr Na Alungu lacks the requisite knowledge in media workings. In his reaction he did not deny the attribution made to him in the story, he was rather trying to pick holes and ended up digging up a media grave.
He did not deny the allegations made by Mustapha Tiyya, alleging that the forum exco diverted the sum of N4 million to personal use, this is an issue, he should address.
He did not deny that some clubs were exempted or denied their entitlements as supposed beneficiaries from the goodwill gestures of DSP Barau to the clubs .
Also it would be recalled that Na Alungu in his earlier voice note in affirming the suspension of Musptha Tiyya had referred to him as the boss of Abba Gida Gida football club. Which our investigations revealed that truly Mustapha Tiyya is. Then if he is not . Why did Na Alungu referred to Mustapaha Tiyya as “Shugaban kungiyar kwallon kafa ta Abba Gida Gida “
Our investigations have also revealed that after the story on the lopsided and suspicious pattern of how the Barau funds were disbursed , Na Alungu and his exco members quickly went behind the scene and gave some amount of monies to some clubs saying it was part of the monies from the Barau support fund. We challenge you to deny this.
The recent actions calls for questioning, we therefore urge the exco of NLO Kano Forum to proceed in the interest of justice to publish the list of the names that was submitted to the deputy senate President, Most Distinguish senator Barau Jubrin a.k.a Maliya as he is fondly called by his supporters.
We challenge the forum to make public the names of the clubs that benefitted from the monies given to them by DSP Barau and also make available to the public what was given to who and who, for public consumption anything short of this is hoax.
