WTN powers 2025 ITA Summer Series Collegiate Tennis
The ITF World Tennis Number (WTN) is the exclusive rating system for the ongoing 2025 ITA Summer Series, a nationwide collegiate tennis circuit.
Running from June 13 until July 27, the Series features over 50 tournaments across US college campuses, culminating in the ITA National Summer Championships in Memphis, Tennessee, from August 9 – 12.
The ITA Summer Series provides competitive match play opportunities primarily for college athletes, high-level juniors, and former collegiate players. All tournament results are integrated into the WTN system, which serves as the basis for seeding and entry requirements.
For the ITA Summer Masters Series tournaments, the minimum WTN ratings of 19.0 for women and 15.0 for men apply for tournament entry.
The WTN provides a unified, dynamic rating scale ranging from 1 (elite professional) to 40 (beginner), with separate ratings for singles and doubles. It uses an algorithm to analyse match outcomes and expectations, enabling fair and accurate player matching across all ages, genders, and skill levels.
While central to college tennis, WTN is also designed for recreational and professional players worldwide, making it a global standard for all levels of the game.
The ITA Summer Series enhances competitive opportunities throughout the summer months, helping players maintain rankings and prepare for the upcoming college season.
The Series includes the weekly Summer Points Race regional tournaments with open entry and draws flighted by WTN, alongside the higher-level Summer Masters Series featuring one men’s and one women’s tournament weekly. Semi-finalists from the Masters events earn direct entry into the National Summer Championships. Select tournaments also offer prize money.
