Concacaf: Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic win big in League B kickoff

The 2025 Concacaf Boy’s Under-15 Championship continued Monday with six League B matches in Aruba.

Groups C and D played their matches at Stadion CD Guillermo Trinidad in Oranjestad, Aruba, while Groups E and F action took place at Stadion Centro Deportivo José Wever in Savaneta, Aruba.

Group C

Puerto Rico 3-0 Cayman Islands

Puerto Rico began its campaign with a 3-nil win over the Cayman Islands in Group C.

Los Boricuas took the lead in the 12’ after Myles Johnson sent a great ball over the top to captain Wilfredo Reyes, who finished with a thunderous strike from a tough angle.

Troy Montañez doubled the lead in the 30’ after knocking a bouncing header past the goalkeeper.

Miguel Coriano delivered the third in stoppage time of the first half as Fabián Salls’ shot ricocheted off the keeper and fell for the rebound.

Group D

Jamaica 2-0 Belize

The Reggae Boyz got off to a 2-nil victory over Belize in Group D.

Kevaughan Halloway found the back of the net in the opening minute of the match with a shot from inside the box.

Carlondo Morris made an immediate impact off the bench for Jamaica as he finished a nice cross in the 38’.

Despite conceding a pair of goals, Belizean goalkeeper Stephon Harris had a strong performance to deny Jamaica on the numerous chances.

Curaçao 1-0 Aruba

Curaçao held off hosts Aruba for a tight 1-nil victory in Group D.

In the 14’ Jëalardino Floranus pulled off a brilliant solo effort, as he slipped yet still managed to get past the defender, showing off his speed with the calm finish.

Aruba created several good chances, but the Curaçao defense held their own and kept the clean sheet.

Group E

Bermuda 0-0 Antigua and Barbuda

The nations split points in their Group E opener after a scoreless draw.

Bermuda was on the front foot for most of the first half but couldn’t find the back of the net. Antigua and Barbuda tried to flip the script in the second half but neither side could get much going in the final third.

Goalkeepers Xavier Thomas-Bassett and Mekhi Phillip were the stars of the show as they both finished with clean sheets.

Group F

Guatemala 9-1 British Virgin Islands

Guatemala made a statement with a 9-1 rout of the British Virgin Islands to start their Group F campaign.

Los Chapines had seven different scorers, including two players that recorded a brace.

Jacob Mazariegos got it started in the 4’ as he pounced on a loose ball in the box.

In the 16’ Guatemala took advantage of a turnover and Carlos Zelada smashed one from just inside the box.

The captain Cristofer Pacay joined the party in the 25’ as he buried a penalty kick. Two minutes later they were back at the penalty spot and Guillermo Quiñones slotted it home.

Pacay put a stamp on the first-half onslaught as he unleashed a vicious shot from distance for his second goal in the 34’, making it 5-nil at the break.

Guatemala’s stout attacking play continued when Joshua Perez knocked in a rebound in the 39’.

The British Virgin Islands did manage to get on the board in the 41’ as Noah Salt shot one between the legs of a scrambling goalkeeper.

Four minutes later, Los Chapines got their seventh of the day off a Josue Barrios blast from the edge of the box.

Dereck Alvarado tallied a brace with two goals in the span of one minute in stoppage time to close it out.

Dominican Republic 4-0 Saint Kitts and Nevis

The Dominican Republic cruised to a 4-nil win over Saint Kitts and Nevis in Group F.

The scoring didn’t take long to get going as Axel Unvoas connected perfectly and smashed a volley in the 2’.

The first half remained close thanks to Saint Kitts and Nevis goalkeeper Brian Collins, who made a penalty kick save in the 18’ and then also denied the rebound attempt.

The Dominicans were more clinical to start the second half as they doubled the lead in the 37’ when Jose Mejia was in perfect position to tuck away a low cross.

Just two minutes later they found a third as Kamil Castillo danced past two defenders and ripped a strong shot past Collins.

In the 49’ Mejia got his brace as he muscled off defenders and netted a highlight-reel goal to make it a successful group opener for the Dominican Republic.
