NPFL club owners advocates for improved security at match venues, calls for life insurance for players

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club owners have clamored for the improvement of the security situations at their league match venues across Nigeria.
The club owners in an communique issued at the end of their expansion meeting held Wednesday June 4 at Hotel de Bentley in Abuja said their request was of critical importance to the league.
The statement issued said “The Forum emphasized the critical importance of security at league match venues. It called on all State Football Associations to double their efforts in ensuring effective security arrangements during matches, as the responsibility for matchday security lies primarily within their jurisdiction.
The club owners also said that “After exhaustive deliberations on key issues affecting the league and Nigerian football at large, “ The meeting expressed satisfaction with the leadership of the NPFL Club Owners’ Forum, ably led by Chief (Dr.) Okey Kpalukwu, and consequently passed a vote of confidence on his stewardship and the activities of the Forum.
Adding that “The meeting considered and approved proposed amendments to the NPFL Framework and Rules, including but not limited to, enhanced Life and Injury Insurance schemes for players and officials, Improved Post-Match Conference protocols aimed at increasing media engagement and professionalism.
Stating that “the Forum acknowledged receipt and deliberated on the proposed calendar for the 2025/2026 NPFL season, with a call on all stakeholders to align operational activities to ensure a seamless implementation.
