Nigeria set to host 23rd African fencing championships

Nigeria will host the 23rd edition of the African Fencing Championships, from June 25th-29th in Lagos, our correspondent reports.
The President, Nigeria Fencing Federation, NFFe, Adeyinka Samuel who confirmed the hosting of the event , said preparations have been completed to ensure the successful hosting of the continental championship.
Adeyinka addressing a media conference held at the Lagos Fencing Club in Lekki, ahead of the championships said the event is scheduled to take place at Charterhouse in Lagos, disclosing that this would mark the first time that Nigeria will play host to the prestigious tournament.
According to him, beyond showcasing elite African talents, the event is expected to ignite interest in fencing among young Nigerians, though the planned public events and school outreach programs that would held as part of the programmes .
Our correspondent reports that African fencing power houses namely Egypt, Tunisia, and South Africa would be featuring at the championship
