Gateway Games Tragedy : Remi Tinubu donates N110 million to families of deceased 22 Kano athletes, coaches, and officials

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, senator Oluremi Tinubu has donated the total sum of N110 million to the families of the 22 members of Team Kano contingent, who died on their way back home from the National Sports Festival, NSF , held in Abeokuta , Ogun stat..
Remi Bola Ahmed Tinubu had dispatched a delegation led by Laila Barau Jibrin, wife of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin , who were in Kano to condole with the people of the state over the demise of the athletes and their officials .
The Chief Press Secretary to Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, Mustapha Mohammed said the governor had thanked the Wife of the President for her motherly love and gesture.
He said “ This is not the first time that her Excellency the First Lady Remi Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave donation to Kano State,” .
He further said “Her Excellency the First Lady Remi Bola Ahmad Tinubu in the past donated two hundred thousand naira to two hundred and fifty elderly women in Kano, equally donated fifty thousand naira to five hundred women for small holder farmers.”
Laila Barau Jibrin, who led the delegation stated that they were in Kano to condole with the people of the state over the grievous loss.
Laila presented the cheque of one hundred and ten million naira (N110, 000, 000) for onward transfer of N5 million to each of the families of the deceased persons.
Each member of the 22 families of the victims will receive five million naira. (N5,000,000) making a total of one hundred and ten thousand naira (N110, 000, 000)
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf received the cheque on behalf of the families of the deceased, he affirmed that the state government would ensure the judicious disbursement of the monies to the rightful beneficiaries.
